Funding Queensland’s Essential Services and Infrastructure
Queensland has entered a period of sustained population growth, rising infrastructure demand and increasing expectations of public services. Delivering high-quality health care, transport networks, housing, community safety and energy systems will require significant and sustained public investment.
This QFI Policy Leaders' Series breakfast will examine a fundamental question for the State: how do we fund Queensland’s essential services and infrastructure in a way that is fiscally sustainable and future-focused?
What is the appropriate balance between taxation, productivity growth, private capital and prudent borrowing? How can governments maintain service standards while safeguarding long-term fiscal stability? And what reforms may be required to support both economic growth and responsible expenditure?
Bringing together senior leaders from business, finance and public policy, this forum will provide an independent, evidence-based discussion on the fiscal settings that will shape Queensland’s next decade.
