A founding director of the Queensland Futures Institute (QFI) since 2014, Steve is a passionate advocate for a better Queensland.
Over the last decade, the QFI has established a highly respected and independent voice for innovative future-focused thought leadership and evidence-based research.
He brings together extensive professional networks, both public and private, to facilitate positive change and amplify economic and social opportunities for a prosperous future Queensland.
Nicole has had a varied and extensive career over 25 years in business, government and charitable sectors. Starting as a property and environment lawyer with Herbert Smith Freehills and then various policy and communication roles at the Environmental Protection Agency. She has also been a policy and research manager with the Property Council of Australia and business development manager with ClarkeKann. As the principal of Fuschia Consulting she has produced corporate charity events such as the Brisbane Big City Barbecue for eight years. Nicole has also been an Ambassador of the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Trust since 2010.
Nicole is a “people person” and is passionate about using her varied skill set to helping people and making a difference to QFI.
A passionate Queenslander, Kylie combines over 20 years’ experience across a diverse range of platforms including Business Improvement and Integration, Sales Leadership, Cultural Transformation, Customer Management, Publishing, Marketing and Communications.
Thriving on delivering mutually beneficial partnerships, Kylie joined the Queensland Futures Institute in 2020, and is committed to enhancing member value, and supporting accelerated public policy reform through strong collaboration, exceptional thought-leadership, and encouraging bi-partisan evidence-based consensus.
Anthony brings to the team extensive experience the sciences, business development and relationship management in research and science policy areas. He has a passion for great science and translating that science into commercial and public-good outcomes.
He has worked with CSIRO in Canberra and Brisbane, at the Australian National University and a CRC where his own research focussed on issues which face productive and sustainable farming communities in Australia.
In his previous role as State Manager for CSIRO in Queensland, Anthony worked across CSIRO business units to develop and maintain high-level, productive relationships with state government departments, universities and business to identify and pursue co-location in collaborative precincts and opportunities for CSIRO and partners to address strategic issues to benefit the state and the nation.
As the Head of Science and Strategy, Anthony merges a scientific training with business acumen to identify strategic challenges and opportunities for Queensland.
Karina leads KPMG’s Strategy practice in Australia. KPMG Strategy works with clients across the Corporate, Government, Energy and Natural Resources and Financial Services Sectors, who are value architects, focused on helping clients respond to rapidly evolving markets, innovation, regulation, new consumer trends and technologies disrupting their business models with increasing speed and impact. She works alongside her clients to help meet this challenge: to create a smarter vision and to help them put that vision into practice.
With over 20 years of experience in Professional Services and Consulting, she has successfully established and led multiple consulting practices for leading professional services organisations, and has worked with global, national and local clients to both design and deliver transformation programs. She has a background in innovation, technology and transformation, and working with clients to identify and realise value across their business and operating models.
Karina is also the KPMG Asia Pacific Lead for ELEVATE – KPMG’s proprietary approach to value creation, where she works across industry to help identify and unlock value quickly across growth, cost, margin and strategic growth value levers.
Sarah was born and bred in Brisbane and is ‘the lawyer’ on the QFI board.
In her day job she has worked in commercial law firms for over 20 years, in a variety of different practice areas including property law, corporate and commercial services, GST and stamp duty (please don’t call her a tax lawyer!) and an enjoyable stint representing native title groups in negotiations with mining and energy companies. She has been a partner at Gadens lawyers for more than 10 years, where she regularly heads up major projects, works as a part of team and draws a lot of complicated diagrams.
In her spare time, Sarah loves visiting art galleries, live music venues, and eating and drinking her way around inner city Brisbane. She likes new and interesting challenges and is proud to support QFI’s objective to make the Sunshine State even better.

Professor Andrew Griffiths is Executive Dean of The University of Queensland’s Faculty of Business, Economics and Law.
Prior to his appointment as Executive Dean in December 2016, Professor Griffiths was Dean of the UQ Business School – a world leader in business and management learning, teaching and research – from 2012 to 2016. He was also previously Chair in Business Sustainability and Strategy at the School.
Professor Griffiths holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in politics from Griffith University, and a PhD in strategy from the University of New South Wales.
He is an internationally recognised scholar and maintains an active research program, examining how organisations deal with the impacts of climate change, and how executives and employees can transform organisations to better manage sustainability issues.
During his career, he has published more than 100 academic articles, books, book chapters and conference papers on a range of topics relating to corporate sustainability strategy and climate change.
As an advocate for research and industry partnerships, Professor Griffiths has worked extensively with local and global organisations to apply new knowledge and deliver sustainability assessments, strategies and workshops.
He previously chaired the Library Board of Queensland.
Kylie Sprott is a business transformation leader, and has experience working across a variety of industries including IT, financial services, engineering, environmental services, manufacturing and legal services.
Kylie has specialist skills in business strategy, human capital, mergers and acquisitions, digital strategy, culture and change management. An expert in culture mapping, Kylie has conducted the due diligence and led the integration of over 25 acquisitions globally.
In addition to her work commitments, Kylie is a keen philanthropist and works closely with The Smith Family in the capacity of “Leader of Corporate Champions” and is the Ambassador for the Rainbow House Iligan orphanage in the Philippines.
A well-known and respected communicator, Kylie is an accomplished key note speaker and regularly publishes articles on her blog and linked in.
