    Queensland's State of Play 2026

Queensland enters 2026 at a pivotal moment, with global uncertainty, strong population growth and tightening fiscal conditions shaping the State’s economic and social outlook.

Queensland’s State of Play provides senior leaders with an independent, evidence-led briefing on the forces that will define the year ahead – from geopolitical pressures to domestic reform priorities. This flagship forum brings together cross-sector expertise to examine how Queensland can strengthen resilience, accelerate investment and unlock the opportunities that matter most for the State’s long-term prosperity.

    Date: Wednesday 25th February, 2026
    Time: 7.30am - 9.00am
    Venue:  InterContinental Brisbane
    190 Elizabeth St, Brisbane
    (please note new venue)

The panel will explore what is most topical in their industry, which may include:

    • How global economic headwinds, geopolitical shifts and supply-chain risks may influence Queensland’s growth trajectory

    • The State’s fiscal and economic position, including productivity trends, capital flows and investment confidence

    • The pressures created by population growth – housing, infrastructure and workforce needs

    • Emerging risks and opportunities in key industries, including resources, energy, finance, health and education

    • Regional outlooks and the implications for place-based growth and industry diversification

    • How Queensland can prepare its workforce for structural change through skills, migration, and technology adoption

    • The policy settings required to support long-term competitiveness, certainty and statewide economic resilience

    • Practical steps leaders can take in 2026 to position Queensland for sustainable, inclusive growth
